Pretty much. But we have some rules and they seem to make sense. The rule we are arguing about doesn't.

Yes... He quit paying in the early 90s bc he felt he wasn't getting anything out of it.

The Feds say he owes 1m, he claims its more like 600k.

basically.

***not the same*** but think of it like a civil rights protest of a sit in at a white only counter in Alabama. Everyone knows the rules. Everyone knows there is going to be punishment. The point of what he is doing now is to force public outcry. Its often the only way to get things to change.

Sounds like the Feds haven't exactly been truthful, so you'll excuse taking their word as rock solid.

quote:

Before the federal roundup of Bundy’s livestock began, the BLM set up two orange plastic pens as rallying points for demonstrators wanting to protest the ongoing operation on federal land 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas. The move drew criticism from elected leaders and others. In a statement Tuesday, Gov. Brian Sandoval said the First Amendment areas were “offensive” and called on the agency to remove them.

During a conference call with reporters Thursday afternoon, Amy Lueders, state director for the BLM in Nevada, said the agency heard the governor’s concerns and “made some adjustments” to address them.

“We are allowing people to congregate on public land as long as they don’t inhibit the operation,” she said.

quote:

"He was there to do some filming when about 11 federal agents pulled up and arrested him," Clive Bundy told News 3. "They said he was outside of the First Amendment area and they took him down. We don't know where he is now."

The BLM confirmed the arrest in an emailed statement:

"An individual is in custody in order to protect public safety and maintain the peace," BLM spokeswoman Kirsten Cannon wrote. "The individual has rights and therefore details about the arrest will not be disclosed until and unless charges are filed."

quote:

"They are the same agents who killed that kid over at Red Rocks," Bundy said, referring to the Feb. 14 fatal shooting of a 20-year-old by two BLM rangers.

One article stated that some members of militia from Montana and Texas were coming to support Bundy. how many, I don't know.

It may take YEARS for his lawyers to provide his personal emails.

So he was actually arrested, and not just detained?

It's a shame most Americans aren't paying attention to this story.

The TV show Arrested Development had a scene depicting this exact scenario.

I hope you're right. You just know though that the media will portray the militia's as right wing terrorists.

If he has rights, why was he arrested and no charges were filed. Aren't people normally told what they are charged with while being arrested?

They have to check with the NSA and EPA to see what they have on the individual. It takes time...

Nevada Assemblywoman Michele Fiore, R-Las Vegas, called the footage “horrifying.” The pro-gun lawmaker has made two trips to the Bunkerville area in the past two days so she could meet with protesters, “protect our Nevadans and keep the peace.”

“I’m highly offended by the feds coming in as aggressively as they have,” Fiore said.

In reading about this, just imagine if only the Federal Government was as assiduous in committing resources to getting to the bottom of the Benghazi situation, or getting the truth from the IRS on going on a Tea Party crusade, or getting answers on Fast & Furious, or building a functional ACA website.

Odd how actions are very prompt on select issues.
