How did what Kennedy and its signers say at that time about the bill hold up over time?

quote:
This bill that we will sign today is not a revolutionary bill. It does not affect the lives of millions. It will not reshape the structure of our daily lives, or really add importantly to either our wealth or our power.
quote:
And this measure that we will sign today will really make us truer to ourselves both as a country and as a people. It will strengthen us in a hundred unseen ways.
quote:
"The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs".
quote:
"The days of unlimited immigration are past. But those who do come will come because of what they are, and not because of the land from which they sprung".

He was a Democrat.
Of course he was lying.

It's safe to say that the bill actually did do all of those things.

So, which is it? Will it not reshape our lives or will it strengthen us? How is it possible to improve our strength but not our power?
If an immigration bill doesn't add to our wealth and power, then what is the point if not to dilute the American gene pool with lesserthans?
The lack of logic is astounding.

Democrats can't help but lie and sell falsehoods.
In reality, we need a strict merit system. Let in only the smartest, most innovative and talented. They will bring their good genes, good culture and compatibility with them.
