surely this escalation will be the one to finally bring about True Free Trade™ and not just higher and higher taxes on imports

2 things trump hasn’t wavered on:

No conflict/Wars in Middle East
Trade

Mother fricker has his feet planted in the ground. Which is crazy because he’s not an ideologue by any means.

He is one to talk about political motivation for tariffs.

What business can plan for anything in the future when this wild man has the authority to raise tariffs at the drop of the hat? People set prices on contracts and for advertising months in advance and he does this crap.

Note he still will not put them on things consumers can easily see. He is chicken s*** on that issue. He will never put 30% tariffs on phones.

I love it. Trump knows he’s got the leverage with this economy and isn’t afraid to use it.

Battling for the American workers.

I’m as big of a trump fan as anyone, but going nuclear on China is a bold move, especially at this point in his presidency.

He's got to dig his heels in, first one to blink, loses.

We can sustain this for a long time, China is already circling the drain.

Very interesting to see a politician not doing the politically expedient thing.
