Comparing alcoholism with homosexuality is more extremist than executing people who answer a question wrong.

If you and I are pals, and I'm having to carry a cross to the other side of town so that some Guido can nail me to it and leave me to die, and some guy says to you, "Hey aren't you ballscaster's buddy? Shouldn't you be helping him carry that since you're his best friend?" and you say, "No, I don't know that guy," then you're a dick, and the first thing I tell God when I get to Heaven will be, "Let me know what it's going to take to make sure ReauxlTide222 burns for all eternity. I can't believe he dicked me over like that." Now, if I'm staring down a barrel, and Derka tells me that his #1 hobby is shooting Christians in the face with his gun, and he asks me what religious faith I practice, I'm going to say whatever gets me out of that room and back home with my family BECAUSE I'M NOT RETARDED.

I don't agree with ball caster much but he may have a pretty decent Biblical point here. Rehab the prostitue LIED to the king of Jericho's men to protect the Hebrew spies who would have been instantly killed if she would have told the truth about where they were hiding in her house. Is Lying a sin? Yes it, but in this situation, her lie saved the lives of the Hebrew spies and she ended up being Saved although she was a gentile and only a handful of Non-Jews were saved in the Old Testament.

I think the answer as a Christain would have to be what your conscious and The Lord is directing you to do in the particular situation. Sort of like when the non-compliant Germans were hiding Jews in their house and the SS came to their house and asked them if they were protecting Jews. What is the right thing to do in that situation? Tell a lie or give up a family to certain death? I can only pray The Lord would give me wisdom and courage to do the right thing when faced with a horrible situation as the OP described to do the right thing before God.

Kenya? Doesn't Obama have some sort of ties to Kenya?

Yes, he's Kenya's favorite son. And he could answer all the Islam questions if called upon.

Religion is bad period. It poisons everything because it isn't based in reality thinking. I believe in a conscious intelligence behind the universe and life but once man starts conceptualizing that intelligence from his frame of reference you get the idiocy that is formal religion and all that flows from that.

Are you not conceptualizing this unknown force by attributing the quality of consciosness to it? How can you say this unfathomable force is intelligent from your lacking frame of reference?

and we all know the French peoples' history of staying steadfast in the face of an inferior foe that they outnumber (see World War II).

Not to derail the thread, but this is a stupid and inaccurate comment.

I think quantum physics has pretty much proven their is some conscious essence behind the universe. Even Einstein believed this based on his experience. The fact that every human civilization throughout time has believed in this essence lends further support to it. Man just had to frick it up by making it a "God" created in a human image complete with human hangups and neurotic tendencies. Ridiculous.
