A subject brought a gun to Dixon High School and was shot by a school resource officer this morning, according to a media release sent by City Manager Danny Langloss. Sauk Valley Media is reporting that the suspect is a 19-year-old former student of the school.
The shooting happened around 8:00 a.m. when a confrontation between the subject and a school resource officer resulted in an exchange of gunfire. According to the release, the officer returned fire after he was shot at, injuring the subject. The student’s injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
The subject was taken into custody and is receiving medical treatment.
No students or staff were injured in the incident.

at my daughter's school he wrangles unruly students when the teachers can't and walks around during mass events to ensure nobody is getting out of control.

My kid's elementary school has a few officers. One runs the drug education program. One always seems to be posted up at a door during public events. Don't know what they do full time, and I don't care. As long as they're there in case an event like this happens, I'm good.
