Statements like this make me wonder whether you really live in NYC.

blacks gonna black.

When you are as low as they are on the totem pole, these feel like actual victories to them.

Maybe they clean the place up right before I stroll through and then get back to being a total shithole when the coast is clear.

Hey, I've biked through there 1000 times if I've done it once, and at all times of the day, and I've never seen homeless or junkies there any more than any average place in NYC. Bunch of courthouses and a playground is all it is, right?

Do you think that "Confederate pride" has nothing to do with race?
Those motives on either side of the argument miss the point. We are propping up symbols of treason.

I do the same... There's a number of courthouses around the corner that I happen to walk by fairly often. It's not a great neighborhood.

I'm not trying to play any games. I will always be pissed when my tax dollars are wasted on things that don't improve anything for the city and its citizens. Please show specifically where my opinion has changed on this subject. You're shocked that people are pissed that the Mayor has decided to spend their money moving rocks, which is very confusing.

I guess so. The founding father propped up symbols of treason too.

But they won and founded a new country on that victory. If the Confederates had won naturally we wouldnt be having this conversation.
For that matter, i dont think England spends too much time honoring those revolutionaries...

So it's not about whether they were right or wrong?

There's a statue of George Washington in Trafalgar Square in London.

I dig historical juxtaposition. Oh well.

Right and wrong is a philosophical debate. Clearly, a lot of white guys in the south have a very different notion of right and wrong in thos case as compared to the rest of the country.
