This thread at least puts some numbers on your claims - for once. And I agree, these are not good numbers in St. Louis. Do we have the stats for the preceding years? Usually 808 is good at having easy access to these.

But I stand by my other claims - you have basically done nothing to back up your claims other than to declare that they are a priori and/or prima facie true.

I would still like you to define "dangerous".

Policing listed recently as the 16th deadliest job in the country. This is behind such terrorizing fields as farmers, groundskeepers, truck drivers and fishermen (all of whom I know you are worried about on a daily basis - especially fishing, since it's 5X as dangerous.)

The list doesn't say, but I'm guessing the police deaths are NOT adjusted for suicides and/or car accidents when the officers weren't wearing seatbelts. In fact, last year, accidents without seatbelts killed almost as many officers as shootings. LINK

Still, even with that, it's more dangerous than the average job in America. However, my stance continues to be that the job isn't nearly as dangerous as the level of weaponry implies. And I think militarization increases the chances of violent encounter.
