Friend who does conspiracy vids, cryptozoology, etc has his three channels disappear. Nothing in there was controversial, just throwing ideas around. He claims there's a definite purge going on

What I'm hoping for is some competition. Video hosting I think could still be the future, but YouTube is clearly a dumpster fire. Hopefully the Facebook will come around to it's MySpace.

Yeah, no point in trying to fight back using their system. The only thing that works is to stop visiting the site altogether which is hard to do in 2018.

I've always been relatively redpilled, like I've known Hillary is a despicable count that should have been thrown in prison and refused to vote for her, but I never bought that Trump would actually enact conservative policy. I just thought he was a snake oil salesman selling bullshite. I'm not sure how conservative of a person he actually is, but his policy has by all accounts been conservative.

If he keeps this up (and depending on his opponent, although I don't see anyone tempting me on their side), I will consider it. I never remotely considered it in the last election save for the immediate aftermath of the Orlando Massacre, but this time seeing his policy in action, I very well might.

From a content creator standpoint, there are no switching costs because you don't have to switch. You could upload the same content to multiple sites if there were multiple sites that were worth that negligible amount of effort. If there were competitive sites, I'm sure a service would come around that would charge a little bit to upload to all the video site options.
What's preventing it is another site willing to expend the bandwidth that youtube does hosting bullshite. Google can do it because they're fricking massive and its another avenue for them to mine user date to sell to advertisers.
What will give rise to competition for youtube is improved video codecs so that video content can be delivered more economically.

And I will say this, I think most of my major beefs with what Trump was saying were more shite that Bannon recommended to Trump. No doubt in my mind was defending the torch wielders was Bannon's doing. And the only thing since Bannon's resignation that has pissed me off is the endorsement of Roy Moore, which again I'm thinking Bannon begged Trump to do it. Donald Trump, please delete Steve Bannon's number from your cell phone. You will be better off.

Interesting. I visit a lot of sites that favor ideology I don't agree with because I'm interested in opposing viewpoints and opinions. I wonder if their algorithm is capable of accounting for that.

Well, it didn't work out all that well with Genghis Khan when long time enemies were being invaded by him and other leaders just sat there laughing at their foes being killed, only to realize that they were the only wall standing between them and the Golden Horde.
