Reality: if Trump's DOJ criminally charges these people who set up this lie, then Trump is claiming to be the victim. Which, of course, he is. The media will paint it as vindictive and petty, and that will be the talking point.
If Trump's DOJ seeks retribution for the tax dollars spent by Mueller and Durham - direct compensation for money stolen from taxpayers to fund the investigations - then taxpayers become the victims, and you can at least empty the bank accounts of those who knew, from day one, that it was a hoax.
So, make them pay.
