This surge coincides with school restarting and most importantly school activities. This may throw the surge off relative to other states.

It started prior to school starting...mid july

I noticed a recent uptick in deaths reported, so dug in a little deeper. Counties are now going in and reporting Covid deaths that happened many months ago. Essentially, they were inconclusive and due to backlogs in testing, could not report as a Covid death.

To give you an example, Denton County just reported 17 new Covid deaths this week, but actual deaths were 6. Of course, what the news media runs with is the 17 deaths reported.

* until the last two weeks, actual Covid deaths since end of May have numbered 12 in a county of 900,000.

Completely unrelated, those trend graphs aren’t encouraging.

Surge in summer of 20.

Surge in winter of 20-21.

Surge in summer of 21.

But deaths should follow.

If they were a little sick, they'd just go home. Then the rough part hits. It's like a week long build up with the rona.

It's because FL is pretty much at herd immunity.

Florida has a huge concentration of elderly and I suspect that skews the data.

Seems like it would skew it in the opposite direction, wouldn't it?

This has been the case since the beginning of our public health nightmare.

There’s going to be surges until we hit a certain level of immunity from natural infection.

Everything we do- vaccination, mabs, etc is to mitigate the damage until that point.

This has been understood by people with sense since April 2020.

Was talking to a lab a couple weeks back, they are 33% ahead of EBITDA goals for the year based almost completely on Covid testing. That’s with a marked decline in their other core business.

Understated. Deaths are 100% a lagging indicator. Either someone in FL has secretly cured COVID or something is being recorded incorrectly.

Did the people with sense think the surges were going to be seasonal year over year?

Deaths and cases are more divergent with a less vulnerable population being infected and a less lethal variant (perhaps, it could just be the demo being impacted isn’t as susceptible).

But, also, frick public health. They’re liars.

Perhaps there is a logical explanation (other than data manipulation) for the anomaly, but I'm not seeing it

Perhaps the widespread rollout of monoclonal antibody infusion sites significantly affecting deaths?

Just another genius move by Desantis

Interesting find for sure. What made you compare the two?

Perhaps you could ask them to clarify

True. What else could it be. Maybe moving from pandemic to endemic status with new infections in the vaccinated combined with surging pods cases.

My personal experience here in Florida is that almost all of my friends have had it or are vaccinated. My high school daughter and friends have all had it, including her cheer team. Our ICU in the hospitals I work at are steady to decreasing with most people taking them up long term people players. Yet, the number of cases I see through the ER are steady but tending on the younger end.We are running out of unvaccinated to get the virus with the exception of the young kids.

I think it’s seasonal more as a correlative than a causative thing.

Looks strongly related to time periods people are likely to congregate for large events.

Florida has opened up 30 Monoclonal treatment locations which has very effectively lowered the death rate.

You call, set a time and they give your four shots of the Monoclonal therapy and many are greatly improved within 24 hours. It’s working.

Our Governor is a trailblazer in the fight against Covid 21.
