Prior to Trent, some Catholics still held to justification by faith alone
Prove it.

Hilarious to watch you argue about whether a Christian should be compassionate. Please by all means carry on.
Well, there are times we must act as Joab and Mighty Men. Be careful, us Christians understand the ways we have to act in times of war.

Gregory of Rimini was an influence on Luther, and his writings seem to have influenced much of Protestant theology. There are subtle differences between Gregory's theology and Protestant theology. They aren't the same.
The Catholic Church agrees with you that Salvation begins with Faith in Jesus Christ. RCC also agrees that works alone cannot Save.
It's an interesting theological topic.
Another interesting topic is Predestination. We already agree that some Catholic theologians wrote about it and some seemed to influence the later Protestant position on the topic, but, there's not perfect alignment between the Protestant position and the thoughts of some Catholic writers from ancient times.
The Protestants wanted to break from the RCC, and so they developed their own theology that was different from the RCC. This Protestant theology naturally was influence by some earlier theologians who happened to be Catholic.
Another interesting topic is the heresy of Arianism. It took the Church hundreds of years to settle this question. Arianism was a very serious threat to the Church.;

Our country was founded on Judeo-Christian values. This is a fact.
Read the Federalist Papers.
No wonder the youth thinks Communism can work.......
No clue about history.
