Absolute bullshite and wrong. The reason that later variants of the M16 and M4 have 3 round bursts is because placing the selector switch on full auto when it would actually fire on full auto was because spraying a 30 round magazine until empty became inaccurate and was a waste of ammunition. It was a conservation of force and accuracy move....

You DO also realize don't you, that M4's have a selector switch that goes from semi-auto to auto (3 round bursts now), don't you?

You might want to check your friend's MOS or his cred on the subject, if he indeed said that.....
