“People would just not get married and cohabitate”

Inflation is making it so people have to cohabitate. Even people who make good salaries are starting to find it difficult. That’s a force factor going the other way

Social reform

IMO, the only way to achieve social reform is for Social Media to no longer exist.

Yes, but cohabitation isn’t raising a family. Often, it’s the opposite.

Let me show you how delusional Millennials are.

There is some truth to this and there is no valid excuse for why millennials think they need quadruple the salary of the other generations to be "happy."

But there is some other relevant information contained within the article you are quoting. LINK

quote:

- millennials' financial well-being has plummeted, according to Morning Consult's latest iteration of its well-being index. While baby boomers' well-being score rose to 4.04 from August 2022 to August 2023, millennials' score declined to .94, the biggest decline across all age groups.

- millennials hold the most student debt out of every generation, with the average amount for a millennial totaling $42,637 — above the $35,000 average for all borrowers.

- millennials are the only generation with credit card delinquencies exceeding pre-pandemic levels

- The cost of childcare has tripled since 1991

- high housing costs pose an additional strain — over 75% of homes on the market are too expensive for middle-class buyers

So while it's a rough time for many Americans' finances right now, millennials are being hit with high costs from all sides

In 2024, millennials range from 28-43 years old - the age group most likely to be raising young children, buying first homes and repaying student debt.

Rampant consumerism can explain their credit card defaults and there was/is a lot of stupidity in taking excessive student loan amounts, but the fact remains that the basic expenses of early to mid-adulthood are extremely high right now. Millennials are more in the thick of those expenses than people under 27 or over 44.

End welfare

Agree and,
Charge every male that impregnated a female with a choice of paying Child support of being neutered.

Folks who have families are paying for their own and the other "Bastards".
Responsible citizens can't afford large families because they are paying for irresponsible folks.

Yet their expectations for happiness are so out of whack they'll never be happy.

They are the outliers in this too. Everyone else has much more sane expectations.

Its not the economy, its their belief they cannot survive without upper class comforts as basics. They dont want to give any part of their lifestyle.

Single biggest factor by far among all the people I know that choose no kids or maybe just one:

All ranges of normal ex-middle class incomes not being sufficient without huge changes and sacrifices that our parents didn't have to make in the 60s and 70s.

Not talking about sacrificing frequent European vacations and $60k cars either.
