Looking at the big picture, Trump wants China's influence diminished... The amount of China's spending on the military is telling.

Here’s the thing. Many want China’s influence diminished. I don’t approve of all of the spying at universities and just blatant crap they have been pulling.
Focus on that then.

That’s why that weird bully move towards Canada was criticized because it doesn't serve that purpose.

I see a lot of people now saying it was always about China. But who was saying it before? I’ll start paying more attention to their posts.

There were a lot of us saying that the tariffs had multiple purposes. One of those was to stave off the Chinese threat. Others included:

- Raising money through tariffs over the short term
- Forcing trading partners to drop their unfair trade practices
- Forcing allies to pay their fair share of mutual defense costs

At this point we still don’t know Trump’s ultimate priorities. If you want one seer let it be me; I will always tell you to wait and see; we will find out soon.

But it does serve the purpose of fixing Canada’s unfair trade policies.

Here’s my point:

USMCA was negotiated by Trump. How bad was it, really?

USMCA has a review/ renegotiation window already built in for 2026.

We need to work with Canada when dealing with China. Not alienate them.

I think Trump feels like he was betrayed by his team last time around. He knows there is one opportunity before campaigning dominates everything, and he is going in dead red.
