Never because the impending sanctions would collapse their country and kill millions.
They would control over 90% of the chip market and they have already started getting closer to Russia. Sanctions would be nothing more than virtue signals.

Huh? Trying to subdue China and committing the overwhelming majority of their Army to trying (and failing) to do so is a huge part of why Japan lost the war from the beginning. Japan was never capable of winning the pacific war, on the Asian mainland or after they made the absurdly ridiculous decision to strike the Western possessions.
Japan was never capable of actually “defeating” China. As the Japanese learned, taking the major cities on the pacific coast didn’t defeat a nation of (at the time) hundreds of millions of people and a continental resource base.

Ah, so that's why there were so many riots against China?
I never said there weren’t hundreds of thousands of pro-Western HKers. You understand that there can be enough people in a population to riot without the rioters constituting a majority of the population, right?
I said that the vast majority of the population of HK is now mainlanders and their offspring, and those people are pro-PRC. It’s been that way for a long time.

TSMC would move its entire operation out of Taiwan before letting the PRC control it.
