I thought they were making it bigger

Most of the locks have been expanded or replaced with larger ones.

However some of the ships being built are enormous and still won't fit.

The United States uses the Panama Canal wayyyy more than anyone else does.

Interesting, but what you are calling "The United States" are probably multinational corporations that are inside the United States. You can't look at this at face value. You have to ask why they are using it, being that we have plenty of ports on both coasts that are connected by railroads.

Are they using it because its slightly more convenient and 20 cents cheaper or because it's a necessity?

Since the dipshit made a random claim without anything to back it up I looked into it, primarily because ain’t no fricking work happening today.

There is language in two treaties passed at the time to alleviate Senator’s concerns that allow for us to ensure it remains open incase of military conflict. This is the only thing remotely close I could find. It also makes sense though as Trump was tying the canal back to China and their unfettered access/management that this could be the angle he pursues

You're that guy. Damn the facts. You have all the answers and retorts. Congrats. I don't have to look at this thread anymore. You win.

I'm down. Could even give the tolls to Mexico ($3.45 billion a year) to help with the project.

Sorry....But you can't believe any of the bullshite you are seeing anymore. Its smoke and mirrors for the masses.

On 9/11 the world trade center towers came crashing down and George Bush came on national television and said, "many people will wonder why the terrorists hate us. Well, they hate what they see right here. They hate our freedom." You sound like one of those dumbass guys that will accept this as an answer, and won't look any deeper into anything. This is why Americans can't govern themselves, and things continue to get worse. I'm waiting for the media to begin telling me that beastality is normal. What's next?

I was wondering why none of the other countries have tried to build this. China dug one thousands of years ago that was 1,100 miles long called "The Grand Canal."

It seems like there would be 10 new canals by now.
