So your problem is that President should have directed the DOJ to ask Ukraine to investigate instead of doing it personally?
Why does that matter in the least?
ETA: and if the President was going to direct any department to make that request, it would be the State Department not the DOJ. The DOJ isn’t supposed to be involved with foreign politics officials.

It’s really not the premise of this thread. Rob’s
point is that if we accept the democrat narrative that calling for the investigation of a political opponent is, at best, unAmerican and, at worst, treason, then American politicos are basically unbound by any law. Because their own party certainly isn’t going to hold them accountable. If the opposing party can’t, then there is no rule of law for the ruling class.
That said, that wasn’t LSUconvert’s argument. He keeps subtle referring to these rules that Trump allegedly broke. I’d like know what exactly he’s talking about.
