KA isn't a racist drinking club, it's a drinking club that had a few racists. There was also the few bleeding heart types who would rant about whatever societal injustice they were butt hurt about at the time.
My KA Brothers who actually grew up on plantations were the least visibly racist people I knew. Most 18-20 year old college kids have other things on their minds.

Funny story. We started to run out of costume providers for the confederate uniforms because they would always come back in poor condition whenever they sent them to KAs. For two years, I had to tell them I was with the college drama department and that we were doing a performance Gone With The Wind.

I was a KA in the 90s. Old South was a great time but I have to admit I never felt comfortable when we rode down sorority row in the back of trucks in full Confederate uniform to pick up our dates. There weren't any Confederate flags along for the ride but it was obvious what we and our dates were dressed up for...lol.
You know the SJWs and super liberal professors seeth over that party and so much of Greek system life on college campus in general. The push back against the Greek system from faculty and administration started back in the 80s and 90s and has gotten more aggressive and bold in the last few years. Nowadays I think the leftists on campus will push for total abolition of the traditional Greek system.

I was a KA back when we still had an old south party on the governor's mansion lawn.....and he was a democrat... came out and joined us

Way back in my days several chapters liked to fire a cannon in front of their house. For rush, parties, whatever.
Anyway, there weren't that many functioning cannons available so most chapters just passed them around. We were running a cannon over into Louisiana one time and got pulled over in Vicksburg
Thank goodness the MHP officer didn't look in the back of my friend's truck, because I don't know how we could have convinced him that weren't smuggling a stolen cannon from the park

A few years ago, nationals told the guys that they can no longer use "Old South." I think they guys call it "Old Gold week" or something like that.
The week long party remains, they just call it something different.
