Absolutely true, you see it all the time. Some very intelligent people lack basic other skills they need to be successful.

Maybe a lot of these high IQ people like Langan look at the world and make a calculated decision to minimize their stress and worry by choosing a simpler life. The pursuit of wealth and power frequently destroys the quality of life for a lot of people.

That guy is a bigger fraud than that Falcon guy who claims to have the world's largest penis, who according to an acquaintance of mine who has been in the porn business for 40 years (20 years as an actor and 20 years as a director) claims he is notorious for being no where to be found when a tape measure is involved, and has refused every invitation to pull down his pants standing next to any of the established studs in the business... a dick off if you will.

Certainly Langan has by now produced a Principia Mathematica level work published somewhere out there , correct? Where is it?

This entire post is gay as frick. Yikes

lol. Chief deboonker professor Dave huh? Why didn’t you just post Bill Nye instead?

Professor Dave, the professor who is not a professor but he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

I watched Dr James Tour and Faux Professor Dave debate Origins of Life. All Dr Tour wanted from Professor Dave was to take the whiteboard and show the chemistry for prebiotic inorganic materials becoming organic and assembling into a basic cell. Dave repeatedly told the audience all of the chemistry has been worked out and there is no mystery to how life formed but Professor Dave couldn't show that simple chemistry

I first read about Langan in The Outliers. Was wondering what he had been up to.

I've also been more of a "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" guy. Something about sitting in the dark and cold, the quiet hush of falling snow, pure solitude. And the final bit always hit for me.

quote:

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep,

And miles to go before I sleep.

I understand that this is an older thread, but I just finished watching the interview in its entirety, and while it’s difficult for my little brain to keep up with a lot of that physics stuff he threw out there, what I did understand made perfectly good sense, especially as it pertains to either serving mammon (money) or truth (God) or rather that which we will seek out in this world of ours.

When I think of the invisible qualities of God being made known to us through His divine nature, eternal power, and creation itself as described in Romans 1:19-20, and consider Chris taking that up to the 100th power in physics, and it drawing him to God as the end result of everything, and then faith, it makes perfect sense. I think that is how we are all drawn to true faith and trust in God. One who is searching for truth regardless of acceptability or not is an open person, and will become observant, and after observing comes to the conclusion that creation is not just a possibility but an inevitability, one must then begin a likeminded search for God, and God will meet the one who is truly searching for Him.

But then he also made a good point of how and why many cannot seem to open themselves up and gain an understanding as being guided by other things that simply aren’t in pursuit of truth for truth’s sake, but rather in support of that which stands against God in pursuit of their own will, or to be accepted in a world that demands adherence to its accepted truth or face cancellation, financial banishment if you will, that also fits quite perfectly. Christ said it rightly when He said you will be hated by all mankind for His name sake. If you make a stand for Him, you will not be accepted, but rather ridiculed instead, and that’s exactly what happened to Chris Langan.
