There are many men who would be willing to completely sign away any parental rights they have when they don't want to be a father yet and the mother decided that the man was going to be the father of her child whether he likes it or not.

I have brought it up several times and this is the only reponse I have gotten to it. Maybe you know more about this.

How hard is it, or is it even legal in some states to sign away parental rights? Is that even a legal option in any state?

There has to be some type of reproductive rights for men. It just be on one side, just because they carry the child inside of their body.

Every single friend of mine who has had a vasectomy, the doctor who did the procedure had their wife approve it before it was done. None go to the same Dr. These were all married men. I don't know how this works for single men.

Single men don't need the permission of any woman in order to do whatever they want to their body including getting a vasectomy.

However, a married man needs to have the permission of his wife before he can get a vasectomy.

Yet a married woman does not have to have the permission of her husband before she can abort his child.

So much for the equality of men and women.

I don't know any more than you do. However, I do know men want to be in control of when and if they become a father and who the mother will be.

I have never gotten a woman pregnant so I have not had to deal with signing away my parental rights.

That is something the SCOTUS will have to decide some time in the future.

Until then, men are screwed!

Married to woman..........she has baby........you father it for a year and then discover it's not yours?

Yup. In many states, you're STILL gonna pay the child support. Hell, in Hawaii, you're still gonna pay it even if you can prove who the actual father is!!!

I have never seen this happen to anyone I know. I know it happens a lot in certain trashy circles. I personally have never witnessed it. But just speaking from a fathers perspective, If I were married, and a child was born to us, that I believed from the jump was mine. I fathered the child, loved, cared for, spent time with. Like you would with any child born to you. I would have a VERY VERY VERY difficult time just tossing the child aside like an unwanted piece of trash, just because the mom is. Any "Man" who would do this, imo, is of questionable character. I can't imagine how hard it would be to be in that situation. I couldn't imagine the absolute grief I would feel if once of my boys turned out to not be mine. I would have a hard time just turning away from them. Especially after trying to suicide myself by alcohol.

Women KNOW most married men feel the same way you do so that's why they manipulate the man by telling him he is the father even when they know he isn't.

However, if the woman I married lied to me and told me I was the father of her child even though she knew I wasn't then as soon as I found out that I wasn't the father, I would have nothing to do with her or her child.

Let the father of her child take care of both of them.

Notice I didn't say, "a married man legally needs to have the permission of his wife before he can get a vasectomy."

Most women who get married do so because they want to have a child in the near future and they want their husband to be the father.

If the man she is married to gets a vasectomy without first getting his wife's permission then that man's wife is not going to happy about what he did.

One thing a married man doesn't want is an unhappy wife who is angry at him for doing something she didn't want him to do especially if it means he can't be the father of her child.

I don’t buy that shite at all. Maybe your friends nutsacks were in the hands of their wives.

That’s essentially getting a permission slip to snip your own body as if you’re incapable of making that decision on your own. Not saying you are lying but I just don’t see that as being legal. At all. Gonna research and will be back

Edit: as suspected, your friends are all full of shite.....unless they are in Canada

Per NIH:

Consent by partner

It is not a legal requirement to involve both partners in the decision-making and consent process. There is a widespread misconception that a wife must consent to her husband undergoing vasectomy. If, against a man's wishes, his wife is informed of and asked to consent to her husband's vasectomy, this can be regarded as a breach of medical confidentiality and an infringement of an individual's right to self-determination (i.e. autonomy).

Nevertheless, it is good practice to involve both partners if the male agrees.

If that timeline started upon conception, I would imagine quite a few

I never said it was a legal thing. I know it’s not law but it is a common practice from what I’ve heard from those who have had vasectomies
