Whatever happened to evaluating people based on their individual merits and characteristics?

Racism is moronic, nonsensical, counterproductive, and evil and should be criticized wherever it surfaces.

Attracting talent from other countries to benefit America is “America first”.

Those immigrants can certainly take their talents elsewhere.

As long as they abide by our laws and their values do not conflict with the constitution or bill of rights, they should be welcomed with open arms - regardless of their skin color or religion.

Many Americans could learn a lot of from skilled, legal immigrants. They tend to have tight-knit family units. They and their children tend to excel due to an emphasis on hard work and academic achievement.

Well those don’t sound like the typical 1%. All of those jobs could be employed by Americans but again, you’d have to pay them more and follow guidelines for work level, benefits, etc.

While I appreciate the need to win the AI race, you can’t tell me with a greater call and hiring in these positions, we wouldn’t be able to do so, unless of course, the goal really is for cheaper labor.

Walmart. They have to be target specifically female indians there. It's actually absurd how many work there.

That's why I got such a sinking feeling in my stomach when the new VP we hired at my last job was an Indian who came from Wal Mart. Knew it was the beginning of the end, and I was right.

quote:

I still think a big problem is indians are DSA robots so they initially seem very impressive. They can pass the tech interview easily but the quality of code they write in production is fricking horrid (example: all outsourced code ever written). I dont care that you are a leetcode god when you have no idea how to actually do the job.

Because they are trained/educated on how to pass the interview:

quote:

the fakers are trained for up to 3-4 months in a software that’s marketable and fetch a good hourly contract rate. Basically a coding Bootcamp style program. They go from zero to superficial knowledge in the tech, just enough to pass an interview with a potential client.

quote:

Reddit is cringe but there are tons of threads going back years calling out Indian discrimination in tech.

As much as I hate Reddit, it seems like the tech related subs are all in agreement and they hate the H1B visa and displacement of American workers just as much as I do. It's shocking considering how far left the rest of the site is. /r/cscareerquestions is full of users with the same mindset that I have.

We’re just not going to agree on this. I want a nation, you want an economic zone. I understand the relationship of shared culture with national cohesion.. you want an economic zone. I understand what’s going on in commonwealth nations, who flooded their countries with third world “talent,” and are now even worse off than before.. you just see an additional 0.1% being added to the GDP as worth not having a nation. Shysters like you just won’t get it.

Run. It is the beginning of the end.

Also.. of course redditors are against it. Most people aren’t going you be against it until it affects them. Just like the people of Nantucket loved Third World immigration until they were bussed to Nantucket.

The entire problem is that only white people believe this, and continue to be taken advantage of because of it.

I believed it forever too and had to deprogram my lifelong indoctrination to see through it to make sense of why the world is going to hell.

It’s amazing how everything they argue just goes back to treating racism like it’s the worst crime you can commit. Truly a brainwashed people.

That's the thing. The person ignorant of this issue thinks we are bringing them in to cure cancer, send people to Mars, and win the AI arms race.

In reality 99.9% of them are brought in to fill entry level, mid level and middle management software engineering, data science, and developer positions.

I think most people understand who is coming and for what level of jobs.

Is there data that America produces enough of this labor? Can that person link it?

It just seems ridiculous to me that the most advanced companies in terms of data (and analyzing that data) aren't engaging in the best, most efficient operations we have. And how people like Elon can be so wrong on the issue working in that industry (and producing like none other) for so long

Yep, doesn’t matter the time period, the left has always been obsessed with this concept and all it does is just continue to ruin our civilization. It’s sickening.

The entire oppressor fantasy was created by trust fund kids in the 1700s and 1800s.

People who fetishize the worker (the commie meaning) because they've never worked.
