It's interesting how this topic started brewing up a month or so and this Trump hire made it boil over.

Just like with that Indian chick in Indian who tweeted about conquering the UK as pay back, this guys anti-American hiring tweets are coming back up to show what many Indians believe in...pay back.

When immigration is high volume, they have no need to assimilate. Rather, they form their own comminuties, etc. They leech off America.

It's interesting how people are defending this as "we need to bring in tech talent" yet somehow there are cities with Indian restaurant/groceries on every corner.

Don't give a shite about average, that's how they game the stats. A couple of high dollar guys can make those look better.

I'm for a total ban on all immigration, but importing highly educated people seems like a much smaller issue than the importing of millions of uneducated, and unvetted, people.

Sure, you can be against both, but it seems like we should start at the bottom.

One of the developers who got laid off with me back in February in favor of H1B Indians has still been unable to find a job.

He served in Iraq and took a bullet for this country. He served because so he could pay to go to college at University of Georgia and get his degree in a STEM field.

Have him apply at State Farm in Richardson if he hasn’t yet.

The real issue is companies and Indians themselves are using and abusing the system.
Better controls need to be put in place no doubt. Better vetting.

I agree it's an issue. But there are only 65,000 H1B visas given out per year, while millions of unskilled and unvetted illegals stream across the border.

This seems like a fight for later after we have solved other problems.

I'm cooling with ending ALL immigration today. But if that's not possible, the H1B problem seems much less important than other immigration issues.

85% of the stuff done at my workplace could be done via AI or machine.

Its just a matter of cost, when we become too expensive and cost of automation comes down, things will happen.

I'm not upset, its progress. I'll find something else to do.

Exactly, so stop bringing people in. If everything is going to end up being automated, it’s yet another reason why we shouldn’t be flooding the country with the turd world.

Immigration which brings in intelligent hard working people who at least in part assimilate to American culture, believe in meritocracy, master the English language and abiding by our laws are a positive for our country. There is perhaps no group that exemplifies this more so than Asian Indians.

I disagree. Put an Indian in a position that makes hiring decisions, and in a few years, his/her group will be majority Indian.

They aren't any more talented, and the company's morale is now in the gutter. The H1B program is nothing but fraud and abuse. It's strictly wage suppression. I can pay this person 40% less and work them 100% more. That's it. Indians are good at climbing the corporate world by navigating the DEI bureaucracy, IMO.

If India has all the talent, why don't the CEOs and VCs just move there? It seems a lot easier.

I'll leave you with this: Canada has already tried this experiment over the past decade, and it has been a disaster.
