Indeed. The problem with left wing authoritarianism is that the more it fails, the more oppressive it becomes.

Eventually, one wakes to find himself living in, not so much a "Paradise on Earth" but, rather, a living Hell.

Obama would not intend for this to happen, but, once we "warm up" to the idea of a supremely powerful Executive, there's a potential for catastrophe some years down the road.

Obama believes in Government. More Government, the better, is his Philosophy. Sadly, he has 150 million or so followers.

I agree, this is a more than a little over the top.

I think the entire board might be off their meds. Any way, I expect that if he does try use EO's in the way many have suggested, their legality will be challenged in court. Just expect the DOJ to have his back.

The " followers " are key. Chavez wouldn't have been able to " transform" Venezuela without first using class envy to create the divisive environment necessary for building up a large, strong, and loyal following. No matter how bad things got ( economoically) he kept them loyal by promising " economic justice " and passing out freebies.

I don't understand how anyone could believe the same thing couldn't happen here. The built in safeguards will only work if they are enforced. Last night we watched half of our Congress cheer when told they're legislative authority means nothing.

Liberty requires vigilance and unfortunately right now it doesn't seem like enough people are up to the task.

I agree. Liberty requires Vigilance. The US electorate doesn't seem to be very vigilant right now.

In the long run, IMHO, the US electorate is going to vote for FedGov to get bigger, spend more, tax more and regulate more, because FedGov will always promise to fix our problems.
