quote:They can do that without Jefferson Parish. They should put on their big Parish britches and get to work.
Basically, NOLA would have less red tape and more ability to act and fix the problems of Orleans and Jefferson more quickly and totally. More decentralized, local government is a good thing for New Orleans and also for the rest of Louisiana.

Helena Moreno can help fix some of the issues plaguing Jefferson Parish for years now.
And what exactly is that? What has she done that Jefferson Parish couldn't do without her?
quote:
Giving New Orleans more control of their affairs and more ability to make their own laws that are appropriate for that unique region of the state would allow them handle their own problems more effectively and efficiently.

New Orleans is losing population by the day, I give it four or five more decades before it’s abandoned.
JP has been completely stagnant since about 1980. The whole metro is bucking every trend of the vast majority of the Sunbelt South.
Neither standing alone is going anywhere good, truth be told. But neither would ever get onboard with a proposal like this. It’s what it is.

I once got a monthly water bill from NO Sewerage and Water Board for $3000 in a month I was out of town for three weeks. Their solution was just pay what you feel in your heart. Third World competency.
