There was some federal money early on to hospitals that got hit hard by COVID (mostly New York and New Jersey). This was retroactive and not ongoing so there was no incentive. There is "COVID" label that applies when hospitals bill insurance or the federal government for reimbursement. COVID cases can be more expensive but that is because of the extra costs involved with the safety procedures.

WOW, this may be the first time I have tracked down one of these claims and it was TRUE. Basically because COVID is a declared disaster, you can get some FEMA support for funeral expenses. This isn't a conspiracy as it is true for anyone that might die as a result of a disaster, like from Ida or Laura for example. BUT I can see how this would give families and incentive to push for a death to be labeled COVID.
