Only thing she has said that I haven't heard the others say is get rid of state income tax. Which I am all about.

Hewitt made a bid to seize that lane by pledging to appoint Democrats to cabinet positions if she’s elected
Worked out great in the Legislature

Did she?
I thought that was Nelson.
Outside of this blunder by her, I like her. Still, this is a terrible thing to promote by her (if it’s true).

I was going to vote for her in the primary, but not any more.

I have an idea that Mrs. Hewitt will figure prominently in the "Republicans for Wilson" movement should Shawn get into a runoff with Jeff Landry. It's the Louisiana "Republican" way.

You should have heard the shite he talked about Trump supporters at an event for minorities a few weeks ago. Guy is a worthless POS. A local radio host in Lafayette (Carol Ross) played the audio of he and Hewitt disparaging people on the right, while pandering to leftist minorities. They both don't have a chance in hell, but they need to be exposed for the frauds they are.

Wait, criticism of blind faith in leadership (that is taking advantage of his supporters) means they're the frauds?
You sound like you'll be a loyal subject one day.

He also seems like the only one that is proposing fundamentally changing the way Louisiana does anything. Else, we're losing another House seat.
Landry and LABI are too beholden to the people that the current system suits. They don't want new industry; they just want a bigger piece of an ever-shrinking status quo pie.

Hewitt is an engineer, she is trying to solve problems. When you legit no kidding want to solve problems, you look for the best people to solve the problems.
In theory, agency heads (the cabinet) should be appointed on merit. I want the best person for the job at DOTD, at Health, at GOSHEP, at DPS, etc.
If you look at it from that point of view, you can understrand her point.
The unfortunate reality is that these agency heads have become completely political. And as such, we need conservatives in those positions. So if the best person based on merit is a Democrat but the second best is a conservative, we need to just get the second best.
It sucks, but it is proven time and again here that we can't afford to have liberals - even "good liberals" in positions of authority.
Politics has infected everything and it's not going away.

His plan is to remove the state personal income and state corporate income tax and to speed up the removal of the state corporate franchise tax.
That's going to absolutely reduce state spending.
Now, what he does propose js that local taxes go up. The main avenue for this is property tax. For example, ITEP goes away, and the homestead exemption goes from 75K to 25K. That gives local govermments more money, yes, but also more control over their spending. But it brings those decisions closer to the people.
For example, he would cut state spending on K-12 education by a third. Now, some local school systems may make that up. But more local control is always a good thing.
His plan is not revenue neutral from a state perspective, and he has no control over what additional local taxes are raised.
Everyone says they wish we were more like Texas. This is what Texas does.

Maybe she’s talking about the Democrats that are registered as Republicans (think Bill Cassidy/Jay Dardenne)
