Would it be alarmist to point out the risks associated with our involvement in and between Russia and Ukraine? Consider the following.

In light of this.
From the Bulliten of Atomic Scientists.
US defense to its workforce: Nuclear war can be won
By Alan Kaptanoglu, Stewart Prager | February 2, 2022
Many in the US defense establishment—the military, government, think tanks, and industry—promote the perception that a nuclear war can be won and fought. Moreover, they do so in a voice that is influential, respected, well-funded, and treated with deference. The US defense leadership’s methodical messaging to its workforce helps shape the views of this massive, multi-sector constituency that includes advocates, future leaders, and decision makers.
Misrepresentation: A nuclear war can be fought and won. That the US military considers scenarios under which nuclear deterrence fails is unsurprising. But in the event of limited nuclear war, the United States has plans in place to “beat” its adversaries.

Then, on top of all that, think of who is carrying "OUR" Nuclear Football, at present.

Do not say it will never come to that because this is a razor's edge we all are walking on.
What could possibly go wrong?

"The defeat of a nuclear power in a conventional war may trigger a nuclear war," former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who serves as deputy chairman of Putin's powerful security council, said in a post on Telegram.
"Nuclear powers have never lost major conflicts on which their fate depends," said Medvedev, who served as president from 2008 to 2012.
Striking a similar tone at what he described as an anxious time for the country, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church said in a sermon for Epiphany that trying to destroy Russia would mean the end of the world.

Thermonuclear Annihilation.
Don't knock it 'til you try it.

Yes
1) Our involvement is stupid and unacceptable.
2) There is no risk of nuclear war between NATO and Russia because of this conflict as it is currently postured.
Both statements can be true.

As long as China gets nuked as a payback for unleashing Covid on the world, I'm down. I trust the Aegis Ashore system, THAADs, and the poor maintenance of Russian equipment to stop all the Russian nukes before they reach the USA.

And these are examples of 40 year old tech. Just imagine what else we have.
No one is firing off city-killers. It benefits no one. There is absolutely zero advantage for anyone in doing it.

Well the Obama-Biden administration cut off the funding to the plane with lasers and the Navy’s rail guns. Given the way the Biden-Harris administration have used the US military as a social experiment, we probably have a brigade of transsexual soldiers who will try to stop the nukes with their mouth and anus.

The US was embarrassed politically in Vietnam and to a lesser extent Korea; both nations were supplied by Chinese and Soviet weapons but didn’t annihilate the rest of the World or threaten to nuke China/Soviet Union. That is the standard go to for the Russians when they don’t get their way politically. You should know that as our resident comrade

Do we get with our adversaries and set the limits beforehand?
Some kind of treaty saying only a few nukes can be used?

I'm still mystified how Uncle Bud went from the Norad General to working in a chemical plant in Houston.
