Al Queda showed just how decimated they truly are in a video last week. Hundreds upon hundreds were seen in a video parading in Yemen. Several people were masked in a manner to according to reports their appearances and especially skin tones from view.

How so?
1) A central bank was set up
2) Iraq was pulled from the oil bourse that would have oil dealt in currency other than the dollar.

I agree with upgrayed: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Those sound like terrific accomplishments, and it only cost us 4,500 guys.

YAY!!!!

Spot on. They were slaughtering each other and not us.

We called saddam's bluff, when he was trying to make it appear that he had them to maintain power and influence. The initial assault conducted with congress' approval was brilliantly executed. Of course there was little to no plan for what to do next, which was the main problem and is mostly bush and rumsfeld's fault.

Yes, that is exactly what we were trying to do ... while killing haji in the process, and trying not to get blown up ourselves.

At one point ... I was on a MNF-I Staff called EDAT: Economic Development Agriculture Team.

Not exactly what I signed up for...i.e. nation-building.

Let them build their own damn nation...it works better that way.

Oh. O.K.

So the immediate establishing of a Central Bank and the removal of Iraq from an oil bourse that threatened the dollar was just an after thought, then.
Something to occupy our time on weekends when we weren't helping them with their vegetable gardens.

Nation building?
You invade a country, slaughter men, women and children and you come out of that believing you were nation-building? How is that even possible?

I don't think you understand the whole Shiite vs. Sunni situation

we all understand it, perhaps better than you. there is a reason Yemen has had 2 major civil wars since the mid 90's and 6 other internal wars since 1979 with the majority being shiite/sunni conflicts and one is the Al Qaeda invasion and decliratio9n of war on Yemen. Yes the same Al Qaeda that Obozo said was on the run.

The reason is the same as all other Muslim countries, unless they are run with an iron fist they are unstable because the people are nuts.
