They wanted to keep an eye on him. They should have got a coroner's hold but having gone through that before with a family member it is usually your last thought/option.

I have some wealthy cousins. Nowhere near the Reiner's wealth, obv. but pretty wealthy. One of them got heavily into drugs as a teenager, went through multiple rehabs, etc., finally ended up living on the street in Houston for a while. Her parents came to the same conclusion, that anything they did for her would just enable her further. She eventually got clean and has been for 15-20 years, but she lives with Hep C. and will eventually need a liver transplant. She has some menial job at her parents company. Anything she needs that she can't pay for with her salary comes out of a trust fund that she does not control. Anything she inherits from her parents will also be in the form of a trust that she doesn't control.
