This is the problem with how the Senate approaches "advise & consent".

At the danger of repeating myself (said similar in another post):
'Consent' is not Approval.

Consent stops at the waters edge of 'are they capable of performing the job' where Approval includes policy stances.

The duty of the Senate is to make sure the President has people capable of carrying out his policies.

But when you cross the line into Approval, where Senators are deciding based on what policies they will pursue then those cabinet members are now being chosen based on the Senate's policies.

A) this undermines the rights of the office of the President... and the voters.

B) the Senate's policies are expressed in laws, which the office of the President is then expected to enforce.

This idiot is going to learn the hard way just like Joni Ernst did.
