To what end? What would causing unnecessary division publicly accomplish?
It's great we want to be accurate, but public rebuking for a mistake is not always the best course. Let Kennedy rip him a new one in private.
Massie calls out Republicans all the time? Regardless of whether you think he is right, how did it turn out? Did it make us stronger? Did it get us a positive outcome?
We need Republicans to work together to accomplish anything. Maybe the moral crusade isn't always the best option to get results. Sometimes, the best option is just letting it go.
This really seems like one of those times based on its insignificance. No one expected anything to come from this hearing, right?

Meh, Minnie Pearl ain’t chopping up anybody. The GOP hacks sound like kids being offensive just to impress the base. It’s all performance. Jack Smith is doing fine…

Politically, to retain credibility among independents. Personally, I appreciate officials calling out scummy behavior irrespective of party. It gives me hope that country is more important than party.
Also, I think it's a genuine selling point for Republicans that they tolerate division in the party much more than Democrats do.
Most polls show a voter registration distribution of about 45% independents with an equal split between Republicans and Democrats for the rest.
I imagine Schmitt will now be front and center for Dem ads and fundraising.

You mean this jackass???
What about everything he said in the video clip of the OP? You nerds keep harping on the mistake about a basketball game... but refuse to acknowledge or try to deny all the other unethical/criminal things they exposed Smith to his face on. Of course, deflect with that one gaffe and act like eveything said at that hearing and exposed regarding Smith's shameful conduct is false.
