Actually no, Ron was quite sane in that he recognized what's happening to this country and what the real problem is. And that's big spending on entitlements, military and an ever increasing police state for starters.

Recognizing it and being able to state it somewhat eloquently are two different things. Rand can do both

15 years from now, people will look at Ron Paul as some prophet. Too bad people couldn't recognize it.

Rand is not there yet. He hasn't stated as such, but he's beginning to set up the stage where the conversation about such things is needed.

Keep in mind he has a evangelical base to pander to for nomination. I though he did a good job including God without pushing religion or coming across as an extreme evangelist.

I'm glad you pointed this out because I think its very important for us to consider leading up to 2016. Party purity tests hurt our side.

He has to get rid of his happy hands. He gestures so much that its incredibly annoying and distracting. Try watching the video covering up his lower body and hands. He is much more watchable.

The happy hands weren't as distracting as his horrible TelePrompTer skills. It's hard to master and easier going side to side instead of head on.

Also, that podium must be 4 feet high given that the man is only 5'7.

I realize he's the second coming for all involved but mark my words, bookmark this thread, Randt will never be elected president.

1. He just doesn't look presidential. 5'7, tinny voice, weird hair and happy hands is just part of the awkwardness of this squirrelly man.

2. He has some suspect associations and he's too hard headed to dissociate from them. Like Bruce Bartlett said, he's tone deaf how these guys come across to the general public because he grew up around them. And Bartlett should know.

3. Just like his associations with extremist people, he has ed his foot in the kookoo pond of ideas. Once again, he's tone deaf on this and it will bite him in the arse.

You can say everyone had associations with suspect people and ideas including the last 3 presidents and you'd be correct. The difference is, those 3 weren't tone deaf. They listened to the best political operatives and were able to put it behind them. That's not in Randt's DNA.

Notice I have talked about plans or ideas or problems faced, because none of that matters. What matters is marketing and Randt needs a makeover not even the Queer Eye Fab 5 could accomplish.

By this time, two years from now, his campaign will be floundering and this board will be blaming the media. I mean I know you guys love him, but it ain't happening. And it's not gonna happen.

That is pretty harsh, maybe the same standard should be applied the looks, irritating voice and totally corrupt personality of the apparent democratic front runner.

Hillary is tone deaf as well. She will also need a few more facelifts.

The idea of the fedgov having a zone for freedom and a zone for less freedom really disturbs me, and it should disturb you too.

Right. It'd be easier to elect a black man with a muslim name...

Right. It be easier if he associated with marxists, domestic terrorists, and hate filled churches.

quote:

he has ed his foot in the kookoo pond of ideas.

Right. It'd be easier if he voted against providing medical care to dying newborns.

Totally unelectable.

I think he's smart, has integrity, has good ideas and is, by far, our best choice.....but has no chance to win the presidency.

People don't elect presidents on ideas, competency or integrity, they vote for personalities and he doesn't have one....

he needs to lighten up and have some fun...smile a more, make fun of democrats, ridicule, while laughing, the democrat programs..he just won't light a fire under enough people to get very far

sorry

Sen. Rand Paul's Response
Great content. Unfortunately he's pitching that content to a populous more interested in form than substance. He'll need to bring a hell of a lot more charisma to the podium if he's going to be successful in 2016
