Who are you arguing with? Duh. I feel like if I pressed you on it, you’d take this obvious truth to a retarded level and say you want to legalize some crazy shite though. I bet you would.

Do you or do you not agree that gangs are bad? And restricting people’s freedoms to do with their own bodies what they please opens up the black markets, Mr. Sessions?

theyre not locking up small time users. This is about the prison population, remember? That’s not the argument he put forth. The argument is that legalizing weed is going to result in those people not being locked up behind bars...and that’s not realistic at all. It’s a disingenuous argument. If you want to get high or you want it to be legal cuz freedom, just say so. Don’t try to latch onto an issue people treat much more seriously

The prison population today would not be anywhere even close to its size if drugs weren’t illegal and they were regulated.

Fox sure does love sending people to prison in this free society.

You insist upon avoiding the issue of why people are being incarcerated.

The objective of criminal justice reform isn't a blanket reduction on incarceration rates, "just cuz". The very real problem people are upset about is the fact that we have hundreds of thousands of people living their lives in cages for highly dubious reasons.

It is a very reasonable assumption that overall incarceration rate will be reduced by eliminating the offense which causes a massive amount of the incarcerations in the first place. That isn't to say those same people won't commit other crimes, but at least at that point we know we're locking up actual criminals.

You have made that plainly obvious, which begs the question of what you are doing participating in a discussion about CJ system reform in the first place?

Do you think we need any kind of prison/CJ system reform at all, or is this one big academic circle jerk?

"Criminals will just find other criminal activities to partake in"

You can use this line of logic, to the extent it can be called such, to justify any stupid law. It's a non-argument.

Fox, you ever wonder in threads like these why everybody is against you is that you’re wrong? How can you tell me that incarceration rates would not go down if we legalized drugs? Do you understand how absurd that sounds to almost everybody?

I didn’t need the IDW for this one, you’re just fricking wrong pal.

We’re talking about marijuana and you keep saying drugs. So now I have to ask, do you think heroin should be legal? Crystal meth?

Yes, and I think they should be regulated just like alcohol.

And it is equally inadequate for that task as well.

We're at the point where you need to start backing up your assertion that people involved in Marijuana trafficking will simply move on to other crimes, otherwise you're just talking out of your arse.

It’s not irrelevant, there is actual data that shows that you’re wrong.
