I predict ACB writes opinion as a hat tip to her mentor.
I highly doubt it. A potentially major landmark decision like this will be written by the most senior justice or at least up there. It's not going to be given to the baby justice.
It's a contest between Thomas and Alito and assuming Roberts dissents, Alito will only get to write the opinion if Thomas, as the most senior justice in the majority assigns him the task of writing the opinion.
But given that Roberts was in the majority for Heller, I would not be surprised if he's in the majority for this one as well and if he is, it will be interesting to see how, if he does at all, tries to make the ruling narrow.

If Roberta writes it - he’ll just find a way to frick it up.
Even if he votes to uphold the 2A he’ll write a stupid concurrence that says it’s ok to tax it or something.
I can see ACB doing it- but if it’s not her- It will be Clarence

If the chief justice is in the majority, he's entitled to write the opinion himself or he can choose to assign it to another justice of his choice that's also in the majority.
But the chief has first dibs on the opinion if he's in the majority.

frick every single gun control measure that’s ever been put into existence in this nation. Either the 2A means what it says as it says it or it doesn’t. Furthermore, until we get every single gun control measure on the books thrown out, our liberty on regarding the 2A is non-existent.
I’m a 2A absolutist. That means if I want a fricking fully functioning Abrams tank, I should be able to get a fricking fully functioning Abrams tank.

So whats the best case here? Shitty CA and NY state carry rules get over-ruled?
I applied for my CCW in San Diego. My first meeting with the sheriff is July 2022.
I also had to make up this good cause statement. Couldn't say for protection or that was instant denial.

mean who is the State of NY to decide that you have to demonstrate a need "above and beyond" the general need to protect yourself?
So now we have to justify a constitutional right.
