Government should have no business in marriage. I don’t agree with it, but let the gays marry. Freedom, baby.

These are competing statements.

They should have no say so in any marriage. Therefore, the gays should be able to marry.

Congratulations, you agree with Kim Davis. The government should have no say so in any marriage.

quote:According to the SCOTUS, yes. The federal government wasn't exactly "neutral" in its practices early on, calling for national prayer and fasting days, for instance.
Isn't the US government supposed to be neutral in regards to religion?

England has something similar to what you're suggesting. It didn't turn out very well.

Really? What about deciding how divorce works out? Who gets what? How are kids to be handled? Supported? What about who owns the home they live in? Should married couples file taxes as individuals?
Taxes separately.
Divorse: Since they both own the home. They both own the home. One can buy out the other. If not then they sale the home and split the money. No different than if two individuals buy a home together today.
Court system we have today can handle the kids if their is a dispute. Same as with unmarried couples that have kids today.
Who gets what? Whichever person own it gets it.
