Schiff on Sunday rejected calls from various Republicans to testify as a fact witness, if and when the Senate holds an impeachment trial. "It shows a fundamental lack of seriousness, a willingness to try to turn this into a circus, like the president would like. And I hope they don't go there,” Schiff said.

Schiff denies having any personal contact with whistleblower or even knowing who he is. On Sunday, Tapper asked Schiff if he would be willing to testify in either the House Judiciary Committee or in the Senate, if and when the impeachment process progresses to that point: “There's nothing for me to testify about, Jake. And I think, if the president or his allies in the Senate persist in this, it really means they're not serious about what they're doing.” Schiff noted that although he’s leading the House impeachment  inquiry,  he is not a special counsel and he doesn’t work for a separate branch of government.
