A law firm that reportedly has advised President Trump’s real estate empire registered last month to lobby the Trump administration as part of Saudi Arabia’s bid for U.S. approval for a civilian nuclear power program, federal documents show.

King & Spalding, an international law firm headquartered in Atlanta that reportedly has worked for Trump’s real estate concerns, disclosed that Saudi Arabia was paying the firm up to $450,000 for a 30-day period. The disclosures were made in a filing with the Justice Department, as required by the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

The contract was registered with the DOJ on February 21. Five days later, Energy Secretary Rick Perry canceled a trip to India so he could fly to London to discuss a nuclear cooperation agreement with senior Saudi officials. Such an agreement could open the door for lucrative U.S. contracts to build the kingdom’s new power plants.

OK, how the frick is this legal? It should be illegal for foreign dignitaries to lobby our government to do something on their behalf. Especially arming Saudi fricking Arabia with nukes. You think the Iranians being armed with nukes is bad, the Iranians are fricking milk toast next to the Wahhabists that Saudi Arabia is and is spreading to Europe by building mosques over there.

Where could this go wrong? Just imagine someday if we get off oil (which I think will happen in our lifetimes) and you have a nuclear Saudi Arabia. Their income is fricked when we're just using oil as lube. They'd stop bombing Yemen for fun and start becoming a North Korea that extorts the world directly. They are also more dangerous that North Korea because they think that they have the literal wrath of God on their side. They don't care if they destroy the world or if they themselves die because they'll go off to heaven. The only difference between them and ISIS is that we recognize Saudi Arabia as a country.

And then there's escalation with Iran, their archenemy. What the frick is that going to do thanks to Obama's awful Iran deal? It would just bring the rivalry up to fever pitch.

Obama was once asked what kept him up at night as President, and his response: Pakistan. Why Pakistan? Could it be the only Islamist country that we know have nukes and that they were our most treacherous ally. Now think of an even more extreme country getting nukes. This is indefensible. This board (rightly) tarred and feathered Hillary Clinton for taking $25 million from the Saudis. Trump should ban all foreign lobbying and sure as frick shouldn't allow Saudi Arabia to be able to enrich uranium.

Oh please, Iran says the same thing and this was the shite North Korea was spinning for years. We know why they want it. It's a bold faced lie by them.

Not surprised when it comes to government. Money talks. You just have to talk to the right people.

The idea that the United States government is committed to fighting terrorism is proven false every time we run like lapdogs to the Saudi's whenever they call.

I'm willing to bet if I went back on your post history that you have criticized Hillary Clinton for accepting $25 million from the Saudis. So it's not OK when your enemy does it, but when someone does it who is on your side it's suddenly OK. It's absolute hypocrisy and shows that you have no moral principles except what your Orange God King tells you to believe, which can vary day to day. Trump could do Hillary's entire platform, and some of you would still defend him.

Since we are not going to do shite about Iran getting a nuke and Trump wanting to pull out of the one deal that might have at least slowed them down, its understandable why they want nukes.

They certainly aren't committed to fighting the biggest faction of terrorists. Shia Islamism is definitely a regional concern, but there are long term implications which make Sunni Islamism the far more damaging.

You are such a drama queen on here sometimes. You are the conservative version of Toddy.

Maybe it’s an Ole Miss thing.

(Agree with your overall point though btw)

OK, so? Saudi Arabia is trying to Islamize the world very directly. I fricking despise Pakistan, but I don't see them going out and building shitloads of mosques in Europe and America hoping to radicalize the local population. If you gave me a choice on who gets the nuclear bomb, I wouldn't remotely hesitate to give it to Iran over Saudi Arabia. I look at Saudi Arabia as the single most dangerous country in the world even without their nukes, so I'm sure as shite not going to sit by idly and let them become an even more dangerous North Korea.

Really. What do they do that is different? They throw gays from roof tops. They kill apostates everyday in Mecca. They stone rape victims. They treat their women like dogs. They're bombing the shite out of foreign countries. They are trying to spread Wahhabism through the sword. I see no difference between them aside from scale and influence.

You'll be heartened to remember that Michael Flynn didn't even take break from working on this project during the inauguration.

quote:

Michael T. Flynn was helping a former business partner lay the groundwork for nuclear power plants in the Middle East, a plan that involved a partnership with Russia, despite his role as an advisor to President Trump, according to a purported whistleblower who provided an account to a leading Democrat in Congress.

The whistleblower said Flynn sent text messages to Alex Copson, the managing partner of ACU Strategic Partners, from Trump’s inauguration ceremony on Jan. 20 to say the plan was “good to go.”

Copson said Flynn, who briefly served as Trump’s national security advisor, had promised to end sanctions on Russia that had been imposed by former President Obama in retaliation for the country’s interference in last year’s election, the whistleblower said.

Yet he gave away the store in the Iran nuke deal.

Look - you're concerned about Pakistan. But, their nukes are not threatening us - they're for India (and vice versa). If you're that concerned about Saudi, I can reassure you - they already have nuclear weapons - they (largely) funded Pakistan's program and actually hold title to several warheads in the Pakistani arsenal. They are only waiting for Iran to go nuke, then they will.

Get that? Saudi is NOT afraid of Israeli nukes, but WILL arm up to counter Iran. Saudi is rapidly cycling through their version of "Perestroika" and "Glasnost" from a generation ago.

If you were neighbors/rivals with someone as crazy as Iran, and they got a deal whereby they're going to go nuclear in short order, wouldn't you make preparations for that dark, scary fricking day? I know I would.

But Iran isn't crazy from a geopolitical perspective. Everything they've attempted to do or has done is based on a deep history that is distinct from Arabian history. They certainly aren't likely to use nuclear weapons offensively, but rather they aim to use them to cement their geopolitical position.

Im willing to bet you dont know the dif between lobbying and bribery.

Show me where the saudis handed over cash directly to a decision maker and ill be pissed off.

Spin lobbying as taking bribes and i’ll ignore your post and inform readers you are melting:

I dont like lobbying either, but thays the reality we are left with. And trump cant EO it away. Congress needs to get off their asses and change it, but they wont. They havent. Thats a problem with BOTH sides. But you keep spinning like a top trying to somehow make this about why trump supporters should be mad at Trump.

That's because Roger Stone turned lobbying into bribery.
