Not just the campaign. They've been using the ic as their personal private investigators for years.

The problem is that society as a whole won't give a frick about federal employees invading people's privacy using federal resources. They won't care if a big wig illegally used the ic to spy on their political opponents. They won't care if a federal employee helped their significant other secure a multi-million dollar municipal development project by using illegally obtained dirt to blackmail a second bidder to withdraw.
