Film making protocol does not trump criminal law, even in New Mexico. No statues in New Mexico Law include caveats like "except actors while acting". This film and this scene was not really complicated or difficult. Think "John Wick", for example. Also, gun safety and gun handling particular to this weapon is not a 4 year curriculum at Harvard. It's kinda like learning to swim. Not mandatory but will save your life if needed.

And Keanu Reeves went through a helluva lot of live training with an expert, not some TikTok whore, for those films.

For the umpteenth time.
Actors do not check chambers. Armorers are employed specifically to do that.

Maybe you should spend less time posting this word salad and put more thought into the fact that, just maybe, this is probably not the best CoA and that the SOP needs to change. If the actors are trained and perform a final check in the presence of the armorer then maybe a person would still be alive here.

First of all that would require the armorer to be present, in this incident they were not. There have been 3 fatalities from firearms on movie sets in the last 40 years, in each case SOP for movie sets was not followed, If they had followed their own standard procedure a person would still be alive. There were 4 fatalities at supervised gun ranges in 2021, in each case standard procedure/ rules were not followed, no safety protocol wil work if it is not followed evey time.

And this is a dangerous combination - even if you don't have fundamental defects in morality.

(Don't ask me why I know that)

What part of the safety protocol allows live rounds on a set? Specifically, rounds for a prop gun that’s going to be pointed at people while the trigger is being pulled?

No part of it, their standard safety protocol was not followed which is why someone is dead.

Then I don’t know why some posters (I don’t know if you did or not) are trying to absolve the armorer. This set was a dangerous shite-show if what I’ve read is accurate, and she was part of the problem. The director may have broken protocol that specific time, but it sounds like everybody remotely in charge, this mental child of an “armorer” included, have responsibility for what happened.
