I remember being all "gung ho" during Desert Storm. WAS a big GWB fan. Still have the newspapers from then.
I don't find it quite as "exciting" now as I did then.
I share this sentiment. Age, maturity and experience have taught me undeniably that my country is not the "White Knight" I always thought she was. We stopped being that the moment we ended WWII by refusing to advance and neutralize Stalin and the Reds.
Since then, the see eye A and MIC have corrupted my country beyond recognition. We are the "Great Satan" that the goat-raper countries say we are. We face an imminent reckoning.

That article is from 3 days ago.
North is frozen hard. South is still mud and forecast to remain mud for at least the next 10 days. And Kharkov is also still mud. I doubt the Russians would attack without at least Kharkov frozen solid but who knows.

It is highly doubtful Russia attempts another northern invasion of Ukraine. If Russia is foolish enough to attempt, it won't penetrate more than 50km, if that much.
To be able to disrupt the supply lines into Ukraine, Russia would have to penetrate to Lviv which is 200km from the Belarus border.
Russia hasn't advanced 10KM in Ukraine in over 6 months using the same T90 & T72 tanks discussed in the OP of this thread. Their best units were mauled in the early part of the war, they are spent. They certainly aren't going to magically pull some fresh armored divisions out of their arse to use in the north.

quote:No. Remember the Russian sub that just disappeared?
Is this thing like our Star Wars space lasers from the 1980s?
It was part of this program.
TBH the technology, for a country with ICBMs, is not that daunting. Certainly not c/w SDI in the 1980's.
Strategically it's particularly advantageous for Russia d/t threat asymmetry. A preponderance of US metro targets are on our coasts. Not so w/ Russia. So even if we match the program, we gain little by comparison.
