No, they couldn't.

Russia seems to have achieved their objective and Ukraine didn't stop them from taking it, so, Ukraine lost and Putin is trying to let Ukraine call a halt

They have not met their objectives. They don't even fully control the 4 oblasts they keep demanding.

In other news, water is wet:

History of Russia bombing Kiev

Bombing civilians didn't work for the Germans against the British.
It didn't work for the Allies against the Germans.
It's not going to work now and only pisses off the Ukrainians more.

Y'all keep saying this. So chessmaster Putin is purposely dragging this out to make his own infantry and borderland citizens suffer for what reason? Not to mention the economic burden to the average Russian dealing with sanctions.

Why is he showing this mythical restraint rather than quickly and decisively ending this?

As long as Ukraine is getting weapons from both the U.S. and Europe that helps even up the fight. Ukraine can’t match Russia soldier for soldier. The weapons they get from all the NATO countries though is a great equalizer.

Yes Russia could throw its whole Army at them and eventually win no doubt. Putin would break him army doing it though. If some of the countries in the region worked together I don’t know if Russia could hold on to Ukraine. They might. If NATO decided to attack and throw Russia out of Ukraine then Russia wouldn’t have a chance in hell at keeping what they captured in Ukraine and Putin wouldn’t have an Army to stop NATO from going all the way to Moscow.

If Putin tries to use numbers to take Ukraine he will grind up his army just trying to take the country as long as Ukraine is sitting on stockpiles of western made weapons.

They don't need to. In a Force-on-Force conflict the defender enjoys a 5 or 6 to 1 advantage - the guys who run at the machine guns lose 5 or 6 times the people the people behind the guns lose. That, and the apparent enormous advantage they have in drone technology (along with horrendous Russian stupidity, laziness, and incompetence) means the fight is much more 'fair' than you would suppose.

Both of these things have happened and Russia is making laughable 'gains' on the battlefield that serve no purpose, and the army is now broken.

Putin is going to keep this up until either Russia or Ukraine breaks. My money is on Russia breaking first, in one way or another.

In other words, you've paid zero attention to this conflict. Which is fine. Just got a chuckle out of you asking "who couldn't see this coming?" when the answer is... You couldn't. Because you don't know very basic facts about the topic.

The US corrupt cabal will keep poking Russia until they get the response they desire, then form the NATO coalition to take down the Russian government so we can have their resources and land. And by we, I mean the likes of Blackrock.

No, they really couldn't. The Russian military went for the kill shot in the opening stages of the war and got bogged down outside of Kiev before falling back and changing game plans. You cannot win a war in the 21st century without having control of the skies. Due to the sophisticated nature of modern SAM systems, it has become almost impossible for either side to sustain supremacy in the air. As a result, you are seeing stalemated trench warfare all along the front.
