Aren't the owners of RTIC and Yeti brothers?
Posted on 4/22/18 at 7:39 pm to loogaroo
We need to all just go back to cheap Coleman and Igloo stuff.

The main headquarters for Yetti is Austin, Texas. I guess the liberals there are rubbing off on the local companies.

ORCA coolers are made in the USA. The owner is an avid hunter and fisherman. There is an LSU plug in the video. Plants in Nashville and Ohio.

If I was a marketing manager for some brand, I'd just ask the company to make a competitor brand then take opposing view points on a divisive issue.
I mean, there's a book on Amazon called "Reasons to vote for a democrat" and it's just blank pages. They sell people paperback blank paper for $7.66. Why socialism works is the same thing.
Presumably there's "Salient and honest thoughts of a conservative" or something as well.
Fish in a fricking barrel.

Didn’t the guys who founded Yeti recently sell to one of the big boys like Igloo or Coleman??

No.
All of the confusion is understandable.
The companies are similar, and they’ve crossed paths.
Yeti was created by two brothers (an Ag & a Red Raider) w/ headquarters in Austin.
They flat-out made their fortune by marketing to hunters, which makes this 2A deal a total head-scratcher.
How 2 Brothers Turned a $300 Cooler Into a $450 Million Cult Brand (Inc.)
RTIC—a Houston-based company—is also owned by brothers (Sam Houston State grads). Meet the Houston twin brothers who created RTIC (KPRC Channel 2 Houston)
Last year the two companies reached a legal settlement, when Yeti sued RTIC over their cooler design. Rivals Yeti, RTIC put cold legal situation behind them (Houston Chronicle)

In 2013, Yeti did a brand tracking study that showed just 4.4 percent awareness among its core outdoor audience. So, in 2014, Yeti began to establish a strategy built on natural tangents to hunting and fishing. For instance, rural feed-and-seed stores were targeted since farmers and ranchers work and play outdoors and like to barbecue. Another outdoor set also wanted in--the crunchy, snowboarding, mountain-biking, organic, locavore, fly-fishing Boulder crowd. REI tested Yeti in 2014 in response to requests from customers in Texas. "For Yeti, it was a chance to get into a different marketplace," says McCarty. "We were a little nervous about $400 coolers and $600 coolers." But by 2015, REI was a little nervous about keeping them in stock. "Every once in a while you get these opportunities," says McCarty. "It's a fun ride."

Not quite. They are in Cypress Texas, just outside Houston. Cypress is nothing like Austin.
ETA: just saw the clarification.
