You think you are what brought me to a thread titled "Robert E. Lee was a bad arse Southern gentleman."

Sherman wasn't a good general.
He had 2.5 times the men and cannons as his opponents. Any boob can win with his advantage.

You seem rattled and stunned like Joseph Hooker at Chancellorsville. Cut you losses. Save whatever dignity you have left and tuck tail and run.

It was doomed from the start.
Just like when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor.

He was bad alright. He got his arse whopped by the Yankees.

And an American hero.
Too bad he betrayed his country at the end.

Not really. He basically had one successful campaign in this entire career.
If he wasn't a friend of Grant's he should have been sacked.

Literally fought to break up the USA = "American hero"

Sherman made three major blunders during the Atlanta campaign. If there had been any cohesion among the leadership of the Confederate Army of Tennessse he should have been destroyed.

This is false. He did not become a General of the Army of Northern Virginia until 3 days after Virginia Seceded.
He Resigned from the US army 2 days after Virginia Seceded.

That's it. I am going to call you Fighting Joe Hooker from this moment on.

It's the little things, right? Never mind that arse beating and surrender...he did win at Chancellorsville.
