We created this shite storm and are obligated to act, IMO.
Let a guy from one party frick up and when the chickens come home to roost, the other party says, "not our bad". OK. True.
BUT, from the perspective of the nations we affect, it in fact IS "our bad". They don't view it as democrats vs republicans, they view it as "American broke our shite and now, they want to watch us eat shite.". To them, it isn't Bush then Obama. It's America then America.
Of course, to be fair, the problem is, you also can't let yesterday's frick up commit you to tomorrow's frick up. But that's a domestic issue. For those in the world we affect, it just looks like a country that can't maintain its commitments.

Bush did it too. The main theme of libraries for nearly six years. Now obama did it too.

Weak US foreign policy emboldens extremists.

It doesn't fricking matter who started this crap.
The bottom line is Barack Obama ran for President knowing we were already there.
HE said he would take care of it. HE wanted the job. HE's got it. NOW, it's his.
To me the biggest mistake we made in Iraq and Afghanistan is that once we were there we did not fight to win. Instead of fighting to thoroughly defeat the enemy, our main job was to win hearts and minds.
That is NOT how you wage nor win a war. Giving the enemy a date on when you're going to leave is retarded. All they have to do is survive till that date, then they can wreak havoc once you're gone. That is exactly what is playing out here.

The rest of the world is about to be drawn into this conflict that we created.

NEVER has a resistance been subdued by "winning hearts and minds". NEVER!
Modern "civilized" thought often can convince people of shite that just aint so.

If this starts effecting the oil supply to the super powers of the world, you bet your arse the rest of the world will be in arms demanding an immediate resolution.

Then we should wait for that day, until then this is a grab ya popcorn event only.

Except that whole people dying part.

Shrug.
If we had an actual coherent energy policy it would be a non issue in this country.
That falls exactly at the feet of Barack Obama. 7 years and he has done jack.

Obama campaigned on pulling out of the ME and has yet to do so. Blaming Bush for the events unfolding over there five years after Obama took office is ludicrous. We weren't supposed to be there in 2014 in the first place according to candidate Obama. If president Obama had listened to candidate Obama, we'd be outta there.

No, blaming a guy that that had nothing to do with getting us in the war is what's dumb.

Well I have patiently waited for our troops to leave the Afghanistan since we popped Bin Laden.
They should of flown out the next day. That is on Obama...period.
You cannot force freedom on people at gunpoint.

And pretty much every President dating back to the Carter administration.
The Dept. of Energy is a complete joke. It was created to rid us of our dependence on foreign only. The percentage of oil we get from foreign sources has skyrocketed since its inception. Those who run it have no idea why they're even taking up office space.

It's unfixable...we can't shoot and kill our way to a stable ME. So reengaging in this civil war will only result in more US military deaths, more dead civilians at the hands of US military (whether intentional or unintentional they seem to get equally pissed about it) and more ill will. It's a no win situation from a world popularity standpoint. It's time to clean up our foreign policy by not trying to fix broken countries - it doesn't work.
