They have floated the idea.

If enough of the millionaires and billionaires leave you can bet they'll implement one. And they'll even probably try to make it retroactive and go after people who no longer even live in California.

None of us should be surprised. California was bankrupt due to their policies during COVID. Luckily for them, Biden took office in 2021 and bailed them (and other blue states, including Louisiana) out. At least this time around we know there's not going to be a bail out.

Add that to all the corporations fleeing, the refineries closing, the wineries going bust, etc....CA is fricked for the long term.
Khanna is whistling past the graveyard.

Reagan also amnestied millions of illegals in California, turning a once-red state into its current perma-blue condition.

So what if enacting laws and refusing to enforce them taught generations of illegal aliens that if they break immigration laws for long enough, they will eventually be richly rewarded. What is the BIG deal?

And as in the H-1B Visa debate, let’s don’t lose sight of the fact that cheap and plentiful illegal labor is good thing for the Republican donor class. You immigration hardliners can be SO unreasonable!

The companies may start up in California, but they’ll incorporate in Delaware or Texas, and the IP can be moved anywhere. The talent will move if they’re paid enough.
