They'll never learn. The brainwashing stuck.

It’s a very good thing. People like you are ignorant and would make very bad decisions. Unfortunately a lot of people that think like you are Republicans in Congress.

I don't know what all was in the bill, but welcome to politics in 2022. Republicans could put together the same exact bill and the Democrats would shoot it down. It's all about not letting the other win, unfortunately. Two parties leads to a bunch of hot air and very little getting done to actually improve the lives of citizens. But all those politicians are getting their pockets lined the whole time they are in office - and after.

The bill removed weed listed as a scheduled drug, addressed some tax issues with weed commerce, addresses liabilities and methods of payment for weed distributors, addresses IRS issues with respect to weed, etc. I haven't read every single word of the bill but what the bill does is essentially make weed like any other product bought and sold in the united states, so it covers a lot more than just simply saying "weed is no longer criminalized at the federal level" because they have to address more than just that aspect of it. But no, it doesn't have a bunch of pork unrelated to weed at all.
Bottom line, Republicans voted against it because Democrats introduced it. And the same thing would have happened if Republicans introduced it. That's what politics have come to in this country. Bipartisan legislation rarely exists anymore.

Alcohol, cigarettes, fast food, and many other things, are more detrimental to your health, than weed is. Of course weed isn’t necessarily great for you, because it’s mostly consumed through smoking, but it does have good medicinal purposes, and isn’t as bad as many legal things.
If the argument against weed is because it makes society unproductive, then we need to start cracking down on lots of substances that are legal.
Of course, you shouldn’t smoke and drive, or you shouldn’t be at work high, but who’s business is it what I do in my own time. It’s just very hypocritical of everything many conservatives stand for, to not want this decriminalized at the federal level.

quote:and I would bet you would find about the same percentage of people who get addicted to weed and become nothing but a couch potato. As well as those that move on to harder drugs. Just like you said some people move on to harder stuff but most people don’t. The weed is correlated but not the cause of them doing harder drugs.
6.7% of Alcohol drinkers develop Alcohol Abuse Disorder.
quote:and we’re talking about people doing PCP. Are you starting to track what I’m saying? Maybe them being idiots is more of a problem than weed
People that smoke cigarettes in 2022 are just fricking morons,

think an argument could be made that weed is more of a gateway drug since until recently you had to go through illicit channels to get it.

There is a weed dispensary on every corner in Oklahoma. My town of about 50k has almost 30.
You honestly wouldn't even know it at all. Every once in a while you'll smell weed in a parking lot or something, but I'd honestly have no idea it was legal here if you didn't know.

Don't confuse me for someone that is against legalization Just explaining how I think you could validly call weed a gateway drug, even if the term is pretty dated at best.

Did you happen to ask any of those people if they had their first beer before they smoked their first joint?
Hell, I was probably with them. Wish I could remember, but that time in my life is fuzzy.
I spent a nice chunk of my teens and 20s stoned. I do not regret it, but I do not miss it. If I could live my life over, I would not do it. I hope my children never go down that path, as it did nothing to enrich my life and was just an addiction to escape to.

Oh great
An 8% federal tax on top of the state taxes
Greedy fricks won't stop
Federal sales tax. Just what we all wanted.
This is going to be used to make it happen.

Decriminalization would save millions of dollars and thousands of lives (some Blue, some others) annually which are lost to the never-ending Drug War, in which the drugs are winning, of course.
If the federal government declares war on something, expect more of it, whether real like drugs or inflation or just in reported statistics like climate change and the coof.

Mainly big lobbyist groups. Police industry (which I am very back the blue btw), Pharmaceutical industry, O&G industry.

I couldn't imagine focusing on marijuana legislation as an important topic in the times were are in.
Is it impossible for you fricking potheads to pay attention to what is going on in the world? The economy is collapsing in front of our eyes, the ruling class is attempting to take control of every aspect of our lives, and you are worrying about pot legalization.
