Ran into House Intel Chairman Devin Nunes on Hill. Pressed him on whether Trump admin was source of intel Wednesday. Here's what he said:

Clear chance to knock this down and he doesn't take it.

What? I think Nunes' response was fine, but what was wrong with the questioning?

I doubt the administration was the source, but if it was, then the information is no longer independent with an incentive to present it in a specific manner, and call into question why Nunes would pretend he was going to reveal it to the administration.

Just like someone saying "we have information that shows that the Obama administration is innocent." But if we discovered that it was the Obama administration giving that information, then it would be a lot less convincing.

I would like to have full message as well. Absent that, the source would be nice too.
