its cheaper to import oil to refine than the other way around. also its beneficial for the US, since everyone needs US government monopoly bucks to purchase oil from the Saudis, Canadians, South Americans, Russians, Iranians.

I dont think a lot of people realize that 68. Oh the oil companies make a lot of money they can afford it, nonsense.
It does not matter how much money you are making your shareholders are looking for return on invested capital. If I can spend a billion in Guyana and produce a heck of a lot more oil with a better margin....then thats one less billion I spend in the US.
Sure they would have drilled in Guyana, but what is going on over there is incredible, all built with money and labor that could have been utilized in the US.

I love the "proving" projects dont hurt the environment. So the companies just drill outside the US and pollute to their heart's content. The govt doesnt care about the world climate, if they did they would do all the drilling possible in the US where regulations exist.
And FERC, the board that regulates/chokes everything. Now Ill grant you, under Trump it was filled with guys that well, lets just say, I would not go on vacation you might return home to find a derrick in your front yard and a pipeline in the back. But they have gone full communist on anything.
And how the frick do you cut LNG exports and force Europe to buy from Russia through middlemen???? The US and Europe get screwed.
