Republican candidates at the national level rarely fight back. The Bushes just took it. McCain and Romney save their energy to fight their fellow Republicans and supporters, rather than scrap with the "other" side.

Dole? Seemed like a nice enough guy, but definitely little fight left in him at that point.

So, Reagan and Nixon are the last two real fighters, with milquetoast Ford in between. I like that Trump fights and has a great sense of humor.

I voted for Trump for Supreme Court nominations, immigration, lower taxes, less regulation, etc. He has delivered above promises on those issues at this point, despite extreme resistance from Republicans and Democrats alike.

I like Bernie. Bernie is the closest to Trump coming out of the current field. He's essentially a Stalinist, so I couldn't vote for him for constable, dog catcher, what have you. But I appreciate his candor and his style. I get his appeal to young, white progressives.

Combination of both.

Policies:
Anti-war
Lower taxes
Right to Try bill
VA accountability and choice bills
Defeated ISIS
Immigration
Efforts on stopping drug / human trafficking
North Korea peace talks
Elimination of Obamacare mandate/tax
Regulation cuts

Style:
Non-PC
Doesn’t apologize like the RINOs
I enjoy the Impromptu press conferences and him going off script

There are many other things but those are the big reasons.
