Real Purpose of NATO- it's there to prevent Europeans fighting one another.

I didn't come up with it, but it sounds about right. Europeans waged wars against one another almost every century. NATO wasn't so much about stopping USSR, but to keep themselves from starting shite again.

Again, I'm not the source of this theory, as much as I want to take credit for this theory.

Well, yeah.

Warsaw Pact wasn't named after a town in Africa.

Russia is Europe too; they were at Austerlitz and Jena.

At this point its only purpose is to continue to fleece the US of its treasures AND provide a "common" defense of a bunch of ungrateful countries...

It almost feels like the EU has their eyes on Russia's oil. They have 500M people and almost no oil and gas reserves. Russia has 150M people and one of the largest proven oil and gas reserves in the world. I'm starting to wonder if the Europeans aren't using NATO to draw the US into doing their dirty work.

Parts of Europe are still buying energy from Russia while screaming for the US to enter a war against Russia. I suspect some in Europe wouldn't mind letting the US destabilize Russia in an attempt to acquire some energy independence for themselves. I wouldn't put it past them to even cut a deal with China at some time in the future.

Close.

It's American O&G interest that want to block Russian O&G. It's a fight for European markets. Louisiana LNG plants are kicking arse since the Ukraine war. Big sales to European markets.

Maybe both. I think Europe sees their lack of domestic energy as a weakness, and they're right. Having to import almost all of their oil and gas is obviously an economic drag on the continent and a vulnerability in an unstable world. They'd rather not be dependent on the US or Russia, or the middle east. Many Americans see Europe as our friends but other than NATO, which the US mainly supports, it's hard to identify what makes them a benevolent partner.
